Abstract

Perylene tetracarboxylic Dianhydride (PTCDA) is a chemically stable organic semiconductor precursor widely used in optoelectronic research. This work investigates the fabrication and characterization of PTCDA thin films doped with europium-doped 24 with the goal of producing composite films exhibiting enhanced electrical and optical properties relative to pure PTCDA. Thin films were prepared through solution processing and drop-casting, followed by controlled thermal or ambient evaporation. The structural and chemical characteristics of the films were examined using UV–VIS spectroscopy, Fourier-Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, optical microscopy, and X-ray diffraction (XRD). These techniques were used to evaluate changes in absorbance behavior, vibrational modes, microstructure, and crystallinity resulting from the incorporation of 24. The data collected indicate that the two materials interact within the composite films, producing measurable modifications to both the optical and vibrational signatures. These findings suggest that PTCDA: 24 composites may offer a viable pathway toward tuning the electronic properties of PTCDA-based thin films.
