LEAP Conference Collection

The LEAP Conference Collection (Leveraging Ethical Authorship & Publishing Practices for Early Career Engineering Faculty) supports faculty and researchers as they navigate the growing ethical challenges within academic research and publishing. The foundation of the collection is the conference itself which was supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF ER2 grant #2420689) and was hosted by East Texas A&M University and The Texas A&M University System. The hybrid conference was held in Dallas and virtually over two days in April 2026 with over 70 attendees including research administrators, publication and research integrity professionals, faculty, and students.

Through keynote presentations, plenary sessions and panel discussions, the conference addressed five major areas related to ethical research practices:

  • • Research Misconduct
  • • Detrimental Research Practices
  • • Rigor and Reproducibility
  • • The Importance of Social Value in Science
  • • Effective Mentoring Relationships

This collection serves as a repository for conference materials, educational resources and research projects undertaken by the grant team.
