Description

The reverse side of a black and white photograph of geology students walking across an ancient stream bed in the Lake Tawakoni - Iron Bridge area. Members of the "field crew" were mainly public school teachers participating in a summer geology course under the instruction of Professor Hazel A. Peterson. [handwritten inscription] Property of H. A. Peterson. Compare with "Bison Hole" Plate II. Photograph taken by Bill Beal of excavation site of Lake Tawakoni-Iron Bridge area. This ancient stream bed, filled by gravels, clays, and sands from river deposition, contained fossil vertebrates from the Pleistocene age. "Field crew" here shown are mainly public school teachers in summer geology course who took part in fossil exploration and excavation activities. (Note stream "terraces" exposed in cliff in background of photograph.)
