Berry and Sikes Residence Halls were originally called New West Halls. The dormitories were constructed across Highway 24/50 and caused controversy, because there was building space closer on campus. These dormitories were almost a mile from the academic center of campus. Named after former football coach Bob Berry, Berry Residence Hall housed female students and was used through the 2016-2017 academic year. Berry Residence Hall is located across Highway 24/50 from the main campus, near Sikes and Smith Residence Halls.
