Resting Lion

The Resting Lion, sometimes called the Reclining Lion, was donated to East Texas State Teachers College by the senior class of summer 1929. It was once tradition for each class to give the university a gift following their graduation. The Resting Lion is the oldest lion statue on campus. It was previously located next to the flagpole at the end of Education Drive, but was moved to the Lyday Heritage Gardens in 2017.
