The Dark Man: The Journal of Robert E. Howard and Pulp Studies is dedicated to the study of work published in popular venues in the first half of the twentieth century. While this material continues to have an avid readership, it can also contain language and attitudes, expressed by both characters and narrators, that are no longer considered acceptable. These expressions will, nevertheless, occasionally be found quoted in the scholarship and reproduced in the reprints published in The Dark Man. The publishers understand that, while this may make readers uncomfortable, it is sometimes necessary for the accurate presentation of the works under discussion.
